Soul Survivor: We Must Go (2005)
The excitement of Soul Survivor 2005 is truly captured in this album as is the wonderful atmosphere throughout from the people present there. The songs, however, are not of good quality and are sung devoid of emotion and excitement which is a great shame. “We must go” is a great memento of the Christian festival, but only if you were there.

Album Reviews
See His Love
Tim Hughes opens the recording of “We Must Go” with “See His Love” which receives a loud excited cheer from the audience. The original chorus praises Jesus for dying on the cross for us. Unfortunately this is a dull and empty Christian music song to start this album with, and although it may mean something for the people who were present the rest of us should give it a miss.

Almighty God
“Almighty God” sings of the wonder of Creation and how God should be glorified through it. This is a very poetic Christian music song with beautiful lyrics that simply say that materialistic things mean nothing if you look around you at the world God created. The electric atmosphere present at Soul Survivor helped Tim Hughes to bring more energy and excitement into the song which makes it more interesting to listen to.

God In Heaven
The great things that God has done in sung about in the Christian music song “God in Heaven” by Delirious? which begins with a bouncy beat but leads into a monotonous verse. This song may seem a bit vague as it is hard to understand what is being sung, and so the listener may need to read the lyrics alongside the song.

For You
“For You” is a spontaneous s Christian music song accompanied by lots of clapping and very dull singing which makes the worship leader sound as if he didn’t care. The music is upbeat and fun to listen to but the song in itself is meaningless.

Everything
Listeners are now faced with Tim Hughes (again) singing “Everything” which is a quiet and slow Christian music song that does not praise God. Tim Hughes is singing that God is in everything he does but as he does not praise God, I see no point in singing it.

To The Ends Of The Earth
Hillsong United now make an appearance on the recording with “To the Ends of the Earth” which seems to have been played down for Soul Survivor as it not as fun to listen to as the version which has found its way onto various Hillsong albums. This Christian music song sings of promising to do whatever God wants us to do and living totally for Him.

Shout Unto God
We stay with Hillsong United for “Shout unto God” which sings of the misleading “the enemy has been defeated” which can not possibly be true! The cool drum beat and exciting tune try to hide this fact, although the only thing that sticks in my head about this Christian music song is that it is biblically wrong.

Now Is The Time
All energy has been focused on the chorus of “Now is the Time” making it exciting and fun, but leaving the verses slow and dull. This Christian music song is telling us that now is the time to speak out about Jesus.

How Great Is Our God
The very successful “How Great is our God” by Chris Tomlin has appeared in many Christian music albums and now makes an appearance in “We Must go”. Unfortunately, this song is sung by Tim Hughes and completely lacks excitement and emotion. This song is easy to remember and sing, which has made it very popular in contemporary churches and Christian music compilations.

Every Heart Must Sing (spontaneous)
Listeners are now faced with another spontaneous Christian music song in “Every Heart Must Sing”. Although the lyrics consist of just “la la la’s” and doesn’t praise God in the slightest, the worship leader seemed to enjoy singing it.

Superlatives
Listeners are now led into a very uninteresting “Superlatives”. Various names for God were sung over and over again without passion or emotion. There must have been many songs sung at Soul Survivor that were better than this one.

God Of Justice
Tim Hughes ends this album with a nicely formed “God of Justice” that sings of living actively for God. This is a good Christian music song to round the album up with as it encourages people to go out and do what God wants them to do.
